Clipper City Brewing Company Announces 2007 Governor’s Cup Results

Clipper City’s Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale Wins Gold 3 Years Running

Baltimore, MD – Clipper City Brewing Company announced today its results in the 2007 Maryland Brewer’s Association Governor’s Cup competition. Clipper City earned two Gold medals, three Silver medals, and four Bronze medals.

Loose Cannon, the Hop3 Ale has won the Gold medal in the IPA category for the third year running. Loose Cannon is an interpretation of American IPA. The beer uses approximately three pounds of hops per barrel and is triple hopped – in the kettle, in the hop back, and dry hopped. It is burnished gold in color, with a rich hop aroma and flavor.

“We are thrilled to have Loose Cannon win the Gold Medal in the IPA category,” said Hugh Sisson, founder and general partner of Clipper City Brewing Company. “This is one of our most popular beers, and that is supported by the success we have had each year in the Governor’s Cup.”

The other Gold medal went to the Oxford Raspberry in the Fruit category. The Silver medal honorees were Clipper City Gold Ale in the Gold/Blonde Ale category, Below Decks in the Strong/Barleywine category, and McHenry in the Gold Lager category. The Bronze medals went to Small Craft Warning in the Gold Lager category, Clipper City Pale Ale in the Pale Ale category, Winter Storm in the Amber/Red Ale category, and Hang Ten in the Wheat category.

Clipper City Brewing Company, Baltimore's largest brewing facility producing hand-crafted draught and bottled beers, was founded in 1995 by Baltimore brewing pioneer, Hugh Sisson. The brewery is named for the famous Baltimore Clipper ship, a symbol that embodies Baltimore’s maritime heritage and a commitment to craftsmanship of the highest caliber. In addition to the Heavy Seas line of beers, Clipper City’s portfolio of products includes the Clipper City and Oxford Wheat brands.
